Children, young people and pre-bereavement
Thursday 17 November
- What are the rights of children and young people when faced with a parent's incurable illness or diagnosis?
- How does practice compare across Europe?
- What can we do to ensure that children and young people across the UK are supported appropriately during pre-bereavement?
This free session explores these questions and more, as Stephen Marshall discusses his recent experiences of investigating the rights of children and young people in Scandinavia. He will also highlight findings in recently published research, where the voices of children and young people were very clear.
Friday 18 November
Join Beck Ferrari as she explores how trauma can affect children and young people's responses to further stressful events, like bereavement; clear principles and approach to creating a safe environment for those children; and what happens when children and young people experience a traumatic bereavement.
In conversation with Julie Stokes
Tuesday 22 November
Last year saw the publication of 'You Will Be Okay' – a factual grief guide for children aged 9 years and up, written by Julie Stokes. This resource has been warmly received by the sector and CBN has been working with Julie to ensure copies of the book reach as many children and young people as possible. Come along and join in this conversation about grief, reaching children and young people and new resources that could help.
Children, neuro-divergence and grief
Wednesday 23 November
Come along and join Sarah Helton as she discusses key issues for those bereaved children and young people who happen to be neuro-divergent, including the barriers these children and young people face; how to communicate effectively and support them with their grief and some practical exercises that might help.
